Kleptocratic Oligarchs are using their wealth to subvert our democracy. Let's act out together.
Victory Gardens
Your food supply, Your way.

The Problem
“[Our food] system doesn’t give us a choice on what food we eat, how it’s grown, or what we buy at the grocery store. The system is set up for big agribusiness to keep profiteering.”
- The Union of Concerned Scientists
PACs have also pushed to have more control over the American food supply. Last year they spent $219 million lobbying to consolidate market and price power and deregulate petrochemical use. This harms the most vulnerable of us.
The Act
Start a Victory Garden! Support your local farmer!
America has usually fought authoritarianism abroad; but now it’s lurking in our own backyard. We already know a method to resist it taking root. Victory Gardens!
The US government marketed Victory Gardens and food preservation in both world wars. Victory Gardens are also a key to remove food deserts.
The USDA and Library of Congress websites still have these guides available – for now.
So, support your local community garden, CSA, farmers market, food co-op and farmers in general as best you can. Support can be shopping (with cash!), helping plant and tend your community garden while meeting new people, or help spread the word that these food resources are available.
Encourage your community and representatives to support zoning for communal and personal gardens while you invest in yourself and your community.
The Outcome
Americans spend over one trillion dollars a year at supermarkets. A 10% reduction can equal $100 billion in reduced revenue. These wannabe oligarchs will have spent $219 million to loose $100 billion. This the power that We the People easily wield.

The Positives:
Eat healthier, have a great hobby, meet neighbors, support local farmers.
